Please get to the pointers!

Please get to the pointers!!!

Engineering is one of the best courses you can take up if you have to learn multitasking in an efficient way.
It's an ideal option if you love the hustle.
But lately it is all about campus placements and pointers.
Don't get offended, there's nothing wrong in that.
In fact, getting  high salaried job is the ultimate thing you can do for your parents.
Definitely it will make them happy.
But will it make you happy?

First thing I'd like to clarify, I'm not saying this to make you realize you suck.
I'm saying this to make you feel bad about the hustle.
If you score good pointers and dream of getting a real job, I'm happy for you to the bones.
But if you are doing this by affecting your mental well-being, I really want you to read this...

I hope you've already watched the movie 3 idiots.
I don't need to stress more on the topic.
We are in the development process.
Nobody's reached there yet... Nobody!
There's no point in feeling low cause the child of the relative of yours scored a pointer more or less than you.
I mean there are a lot of such children of relatives who score more than us... Always will be.
The funny part is we know how much they scored but not their names... Shit!
I'm always like...

Me: Did XXX scored more marks than
        me?
Mom:No! YYY scored scored more than you...
Me: Who is he anyway?
Mom: How can you forget him? You both
           were good friends when you
were kids. You had a lot of
           memories together. He even
           pranked you by placing a
           cockroach in your T-shirt...
           remember?
Me: Yeah, I remember that brat!

Just admit we all feel a little low for scoring less than someone we know.
We all have to realize that scoring or excelling in any field requires the urge to improve ourselves and not to outperform someone we don't care.
Simple as shit.
If you are working for making someone feel inferior than you, you are on the wrong path.
Worse... If you are working hard because you fear feeling low in front of someone...
Of course it keeps us motivated, but it doesn't last long.
I think I make the same mistake many times.
Working with vengeance on my mind.

Getting to the pointers,
We get upset if we fail to produce results similar or better than others.
We get so fixated on the outcome than the process that the outcome less than our expectations upsets us.
Imagine you were the only person on this Earth pursuing engineering...
Even if you get a really bad pointer or even if you fail, you'd be happy!
Parents would be really happy!
And the next time, you'd happily work harder to score more.
Sounds easy, right?

It's real easy... Know why?
You didn't work to get a 10 pointer or beating "the child of the relative" named YYY.
You'll always get better with no pressure.
You'll be always motivated to beat yourself and this motivation will prevail even after this 4 year course.
This motivation is what I wish for myself and you as well.

Placements and pointers can be gained by envying toppers and YYYs.
But the fuel ends right after you get the outcome.
Please friends, choose the proper fuel for your life...
It's a forever game...
I'm sorry for being a lot more serious in this blog.
But I'm happy that I didn't beat around the bush and got to the point!

Fake influencers: The agents of manufactured reality

Fake influencers: The agents of manufactured reality How many public figures do you follow on various social media platforms? It’s great to be up-to-date with what’s going on in their life, isn’t it? Maybe you’re a big fan of his/her work or post feed. Their presence on social media ensures that they stay relevant to the culture and give their followers a chance to get a peek into their lives. A good amount of following can be used to create awareness, raise money for a cause and create a strong community. On the flip-side, it can also be used to push products/courses that benefit only the ones who sell them, and imbibe ideologies that are biased and serve no good to society. Many of such influencers sell us manufactured reality time and time again. It can severely affect our well-being as being the consumers of the same. There’s a lot of political tension in the world. People divide themselves based on countries, beliefs, races, genders, and ideologies. Most of them are ...

How did the professors adapt to online lectures?

How did the professors adapt to online lectures? Now that most of the colleges have started conducting lectures online, our monotonous lives have become even more monotonous. Waking up, attending lectures, completing the work assigned to us by the professors, and having some time for ourselves at the end of the day has become the new normal. The online education platforms have been a challenge for all of us that we have adapted to quite successfully. But we’re Gen Z! Most of us touch their phone first even before they touch their toothbrush in the morning. We have made technology a vital part of our lives. What about the ones who haven’t? What about the professors? Well, the online lectures were started right after the lockdown in the last academic year. It was like the resort to completing the syllabus and not the exact substitute for classroom lectures. But as it wasn’t safe to reopen the institutes while students’ academic year was seemingly going to waste, the online l...

The Real Superhero...

The Real Superhero... You meet a lot of people in your life and most people will be forgotten with time. But, some people always have some influence over you even though you've lost the touch with them. Some people just take you back in time to remind you of the lessons you learned from them. Maybe you don't know everything about them, but something about them just tells that he/she is a kind person than he/she appears to be. This post is about one such person whom my parents don't even know about, he's no more but he has inspired me a lot during my childhood. This is a story of a man, who lived by his own rules, This is the story of an engineer, who was full of compassion but still lived a lonely life, This is a story of an introvert, who shared a great bond with kids, This story is about Uncle Dinesh. Uncle Dinesh was an engineer and in his late 60's when I first met him. His apartment was a level below mine. I never knew he existed even though I...
