The Lunchbox

The Lunchbox😋

After getting admission in the engineering college, I thought that my life would change all around. I mean that was good, I needed some change in my schedule. There are some things that I would miss in the engineering college though. Lunch breaks... Lunch breaks in the school are awesome! Canteens were meant for the purpose of getting food if you haven't got any from your house. Everyone got meals from their house. And as soon as the students heard the recess bell, they took their lunch boxes on a table to eat with their friends. I was sad that I wouldn't have that kind of lunch break ever in my life again...

The lunch break on my first day to the college was the most boring event on the planet. Everyone was hesitant; no one tried to share the lunch with the other folks. I thought I had to get used to it. But it's natural though, no one had made any friends and we needed time to know each other.

The ice started breaking, students started talking to each other. That was the day it all changed! Till then, I've had my own group... ( The guys I've introduced you through my blogs) But I still didn't know their eating habits.
Groups started sitting and sharing in the lunch breaks. So did ours. And one thing I liked about Mr. Tenacious was that he waited for us to come to the washroom to wash our hands. He waited for us to return to the class so that we can all eat together and most importantly... He waited for us to submit the assignments! Well, I can't deny the fact that finding people like him is like finding a needle out of the hay!
Our life has changed to 180° since we joined the professional course, but the lunch breaks are still the same. I've noticed one common theme, there's always a person who devours food. He is the person who likes each and every bit of your lunchbox regardless of what's in it! Chilli pancakes, pumpkin salad, stirred eggplant and all the weird named dishes your Mom makes for you, he enjoys them all! I think the ancestors of these people must have worked as a royal food taster in the King’s palace. The job where a person is paid to check the quality and safety of the food. And yes! If these people would have kept up with the same profession, they would be earning a good amount of money.

Considering the Kings remain to be insanely generous!

Dr. Workaholic is that type of person in our group. If you ever brought a dish in your lunchbox that you don’t like, Dr. Workaholic helps you to finish it off!
Sometimes, this can happen to your favorite dishes as well!
And he does that for the whole group. I’ve observed that if Dr. Workaholic is absent for a day, we take 25 minutes of the 30 to consume the food. The other days we just take 15!
Believe it or not, Dr. Workaholic is a type of person every group has when it comes to the Lunch breaks.

These many words to describe a 30-minute lunch break but there’s still a person who needs to be mentioned in the blog. Without that person, none of us would be having lunch breaks.
I’m talking about the person who prepares the food.
Whether it is your Mom, Dad, Uncle, Maid or that uncle from your canteen, they take efforts to feed you.
See, the “lunch break” is a lunch break when there is “lunch” in the “break”.
If it’s your Mom remember that she has to wake up early in the morning with or earlier than you to make all the food. And we all are sitting here complaining about assignments!
No matter if there’s stirred eggplant or Paneer Tikka Masala in your lunchbox, the same amount of love was put in to prepare that.

I respect the people who live in the hostels away from their parents. They are the ones who understand the real value of home-cooked food.
If you don’t believe me, ask any person in your college who stays away from home.
We kind of take all the people who make food for granted.

Every working day when its 1:20 pm, it’s the same thing.
Mr. Tenacious waits for us to open the lunch box...
We have at least 5-6 lunchboxes on a single bench…
All the folks sit around talking about the latest movie or video game…
Dr. Workaholic comes to the rescue…
Same people, the same old lunchbox.

  2. I can feel the pain of eating food outside of home. Once, there was a family function in my village so my parents had to go out of station. I couldn't have went with them because my practical exams were there, so for a whole week I had to eat from nearest restaurants. And I'm that kind of person who doesn't like food from outside. When food came it was like 90% oil and seasoning. It was horrible. After that disaster of a food, I used to buy bread from outside and have milk and bread for breakfast. And during night, I used to cook instant noodles for myself. Those were tough time. I'm very happy that right now my college is in my city so I don't have to bother about food from outside.

Fake influencers: The agents of manufactured reality

Fake influencers: The agents of manufactured reality How many public figures do you follow on various social media platforms? It’s great to be up-to-date with what’s going on in their life, isn’t it? Maybe you’re a big fan of his/her work or post feed. Their presence on social media ensures that they stay relevant to the culture and give their followers a chance to get a peek into their lives. A good amount of following can be used to create awareness, raise money for a cause and create a strong community. On the flip-side, it can also be used to push products/courses that benefit only the ones who sell them, and imbibe ideologies that are biased and serve no good to society. Many of such influencers sell us manufactured reality time and time again. It can severely affect our well-being as being the consumers of the same. There’s a lot of political tension in the world. People divide themselves based on countries, beliefs, races, genders, and ideologies. Most of them are ...

Finding friends for the journey

Finding friends for the journ ey ... D one with the first week, I was quite bored to have no one to talk to ... Even if I loved to do things alone, I had to find myself friends on whom I can rely for these 4 years and establish a bond of brotherhood and respect... Enough of this shit, I wanted some people around who could help in my projects, compete my assignments and mark me present even if I've bunked the lectures. Here is how I made my team and how each one of them represent a stereotypical student of an engineering college. I prefer talking to the people who appreciate my poor jokes at any cost. A small program in the college was a  great opportunity to socialize... I knew I had to do that even if I don't like it. I sat in the crowd where I started cracking jokes on the guest of honor... I ain't rude to do that... It's just my way of testing people I don't want someone to be my friend who can't take my jokes ... I found my first...

Fresher's fever

Freshe r's fever Now that we've done with our busy schedule, it's time to take a break and enjoy a bit... Yes... I'm talking about the fresher's party!!! But can all students really enjoy the party? Let's take the case... The biggest irony of life is... Happiness comes for a price What do I mean by this opening statement? Well, after 1 month of tedious lectures, practicals and work we hear about the fresher's party!!!.... Wait... What? It's after our midterm exams! No way This is what happens in most of the colleges. I guess you know how it goes after this. The ones who have prepared real hard for the exams score good... And the ones who have not, score terrible. So it's clear that the ones who score enjoy, The ones who don't,...cry... Not because they scored low but because of their unwillingness of enjoying the party! The midterm score was like a bomb on the class. And with every score declared, it was turning wors...
